Bio / Contact

Rosemary Van Deuren is a novelist, essayist, interviewer and columnist. She is the author of the young adult fantasy novel BASAJAUN, which Fantasy Book Review UK reviewed as “an original and memorable tale that young adults and older children will certainly enjoy”. The Lansing State Journal Newspaper called Basajaun “an unusual, intriguing young adult fantasy”, and New York Times Bestselling author T. A. Barron said, “Basajaun is a beautiful book, written by a masterful wordsmith!”

Rosemary writes the interview and eclectic entertainment column ‘Flipside’ for The Idler (idlermag.com). She has interviewed actor Neil Jackson (Push, Quantum of Solace, Upstairs Downstairs, Make It or Break It), writer Peter S. Beagle (author of The Last Unicorn), artist and writer Wayne Barlowe (concept artist on Avatar and Harry Potter, author of Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials and God’s Demon), actor Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty), conceptual designer, visual effects artist and animator Peter Konig (Enchanted, Cloverfield, Splice, Starship Troopers) and many more. The Idler was selected by The Writer’s Guild of America in June of 2011 for their Hotlist.

Rosemary’s Bob Dylan Twitter-parody What if ‘No Direction Home’ had been in Twitter form? is archived on the Bob Dylan history website expectingrain.com.

Rosemary is a former artist, and in her spare time she likes to walk through the woods with her fiance — the very talented concept artist and illustrator, Guy Davis. She and Guy currently live in Michigan with one cat, and a rabbit who laid patiently at Rosemary’s feet the entire time Basajaun was written.
